When I first thought of personal training, Kristin is the first person that came to mind. I’ve known Kristin since childhood and she’s always been such an amazing person and always there to help you out. I like to think that I’ve been a pretty “fit” person but starting fertility treatments, it threw my body out of whack. I’m not someone that is big into working out and I despise going to the gym because it makes me uncomfortable.   Kristin will also take the time to make sure you are doing specific movements correctly so that it is most effective and safe for your body. I know what it is to train hard, have discipline, and practice to achieve my end goal, but I also know what it’s like to do those things and fail.

After being misdiagnosed with a thyroid virus when I was 24, I started to struggle with my weight. I was uneducated, my self-esteem was low, and as I continued to struggle, I developed an eating disorder because I thought “if only I was skinnier”....

MEET YOUR TRAINER

Always an avid equestrian, I spent most of the first 20 years of my life training and competing. I was that kid involved in everything from choir to even soccer at one point, but most of my life was consumed with horseback riding, cheer, and softball. All things I still love.

I know what it is to train hard, have discipline, and practice to achieve my end goal, but I also know what it’s like to do those things and fail. I know what it is to fail from not working hard too and letting everything slip away. After being misdiagnosed with a thyroid virus when I was 24, I started to struggle with my weight. I had always been tiny and active my whole life, so gaining close to 40lbs in three months was devastating to me. I was uneducated, my self-esteem was low, the only weightlifting I had ever done was in PE in high school, and being I was in my 20’s – I was doing all the things that 20 something year old’s do; my decisions weren’t exactly stellar. As I continued to struggle, I developed an eating disorder because I thought “if only I was skinnier” – as if that would be the solution to all my problems. My disorder continued and eventually I moved home to get help and start the healing process. Truthfully, even though I saw progress, I was not healed. That comes from within and that took years of therapy for me to grasp. However, I did start to take the steps necessary to get myself healthy.

I started going to the gym (which I was completely scared of because not know what you’re doing is intimidating), I started gearing my food intake to more whole foods/counting calories (also not ideal especially with an ED, but this is where I started). I was still struggling, still not sleeping at night, exhausted all the time, hot, sweating, constantly felt as if I was in a hangover state, there were so many days that getting out of bed was my biggest accomplishment of the day… after 3 years of doctors, incorrect meds, and testing, I was diagnosed with Hashimotos disease/hypothyroid disorder. Then began the years of medicine, but I finally had answers and energy to do life. I started a new job, met a new group of co-workers, and through them, I was introduced to weightlifting. They literally taught me everything, I was finally comfortable in the gym, I had so much encouragement from my support system. They gave me the motivation I needed and when that didn’t work, I relied on discipline. Others started to notice my journey, some reached out and asked me to help them in the gym. I figured “why not?” I was going to the gym anyway.

After a couple of years and continuously training friends for fun, I decided that my hobby had turned into my passion. I wanted to be that person that could make others feel comfortable trying something new, that even though it’s new, with guidance there is nothing to be afraid of you don’t look stupid trying, because you’re there, you’re showing up, there is nothing you can’t do, and you’re doing the damn thing. My programs offer guidance tailored to you because not all programs work the same for everyone – whether its workout plans or eating plans, or whatever support you need mentally. I just wanted to create a supportive, safe space that is open to all. I want KCWellness to be positive - mind, body, and soul through my coaching. I want people to know that they’re perfect the way they are, but it’s ok to feel as if there are things that they want to improve on, and they can! We all have something we can work on and do better. KCWellness, aka me, will be here to teach you the discipline, offer guidance and an outlet, and cheer you on every step of the way! My goal is for all my clients to eventually not need me. The ideal client will graduate from my programs and be comfortable enough with themselves to complete their workouts without my guidance and will come back only because they want to, not because they need to. However, I want all of my clients to know that they’re always welcome to stay with me.
